I'm Sara, the human (although I'm not always convinced of that, I might also be an alien) behind the zines. Thank you for being here!
Of course, it is entirely impossible to sum up who I am in just a few sentences. I'm still attempting to figure that out myself and the only thing I know for sure is that we are all multifaceted and ever-changing. We really do contain multitudes.
Nonetheless, here's a little something about me: I'm a Swiss slash Italian 26-year-old trying to be a functioning adult while also trying to commit to creative endeavours despite perfectionism and impostor syndrome. I live in the northwest of Switzerland.
When I'm not working on my zines, you can usually either find me at my part-time job as a librarian, hiding in my apartment and escaping into fictional stories, or out on a walk, listening to music. I also venture out into the real world to go to concerts or the theater sometimes. All in all, I crave a quiet, simple existence, free of anyone else's input on what my days are supposed to look like or how I'm supposed to live my life.
To me, our ability to tell stories through all different kinds of mediums, whether it's fiction or lived experience, is one of the better traits of humanity. Finding fragments of myself in other people’s creations - in books, poetry, songs, visual art, or any other form of storytelling - is vital to my wellbeing. It makes me feel understood, a little less like an alien, which is part of the driving force behind my own creative expression. Through my artwork I can express myself in a way that, as a socially anxious person, feels safe to me, and I hope that someone out there sees themselves reflected in what I create.
My zines contain my writing, cut-up poems, and scans of my analog mixed media collages (sometimes created with a bit of help from my assistant, a beautiful second-hand Hermes 3000 called Mathilde aka Tildi the Typewriter).
P.S. You can also find me on Instagram.
